Q&A with Stephanie Haddad of Hush Little Baby Photography – Sydney Newborn Photographer

We love sharing these personal profiles of our favourite Australian professional photographers! Find out all about the person behind the lens in our Q&A series.

How did you get started as a photographer?

I’m Stephanie a mother of four beautiful children that has inspired my journey towards maternity, newborn, baby and family photography.

What did life look like before photography?

I studied and have an advanced diploma in fashion design and the creative arts, in which I am able to create some custom one of a kind items to use in my work. Before my own family life, I ran my own business designing clothing and loved the creativity that came along with the role. I have worked within the fashion industry that demanded high attention to detail, which flows through into my photography.

Tell us about a day in the life of a professional photographer …

Life as a photographer is a juggle, as I myself am a mother of 4. I love all aspects of meeting my clients, to photographing their session to the retouching and creating the stunning album and wall arts chosen to be displayed in my clients homes.

Not all days are photography days but a typical day would include baby sitting for my younger children. Set up of the studio space along with props etc for your session.
Running your session and photographing your family followed by an in-studio selection of your favourite images.

I’m Stephanie a mother of four beautiful children that has inspired my journey towards newborn photography.

Once the session is over it’s usually washing, cleaning and packing up after the session of all the props followed by some late nights or lounge wear editing days… aka pj days as I like to call it as I retouch your gorgeous gallery selections.

Any memorable moments?

I always tell my families not to worry when babies have little accidents but their was one baby in particular that had about 3 little accidents on me. What are the chances? it was a funny session and we kept joking about how he must have been very relaxed with me.

If you could photograph 1 thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Definitely squishy little newborns …. so adorable!

What is the best thing about your job?

Being able to capture moments with families that I know they will forever get to cherish.

Tell us something we don’t know about professional photography …

I’m a massive animal lover and baby animals are sooo adorable I can’t help but whip out my camera and take some snaps. You have to agree right….?

If you weren’t a photographer, what would you be doing?

If I wasn’t a photographer I would still definitely be doing something related to babies.

Here’s a blank cheque! What are you going to spend it on for your business?

Ooooh if anyone knows me they know I love my props & accessories. I source beautiful pieces from local and international vendors to use within all my sessions. I’m what you may call ….. addicted.

If you could photograph someone famous, who would it be and why?

I love to capture the love and connection between families, I wouldn’t say I have a want to photograph a person in particular though.
