How did you get started as a photographer?
I’ve always enjoyed taking photos as a hobby, but when I became pregnant with my oldest son my husband gifted me my first DSLR and I haven’t looked back.
What did life look like before photography?
I used to work in the Child Care Industry as a group leader.
Tell us about a day in the life of a professional photographer …
One of the best things about it – it’s never the same! I guess most of my time is spent in front of the computer editing. That’s definitely the less glamorous side of this business that no one else sees.
Do you have a special story to share?
For me the best thing about being a newborn photographer is being included in such a private and special time in peoples lives. I just love that I’m often among the first people to hear about baby’s arrival. I’m often sent that first first picture message with all the birth stats, and to me, that’s really an honour.
If you could photograph 1 thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Babies! Babies are my jam.
What is the best thing about your job?
Ensuring that people have their memories preserved in a beautiful way for their lifetime, and beyond. As someone who lost their father as a young adult, I truly believe that what I do is very important, as often, photos are all we have left.
Tell us something we don’t know about professional photography …
Being a professional photographer is very expensive! Especially for people like me with a prop obsession!
If you weren’t a photographer, what would you be doing?
I would be travelling the world. I still try to do this, just in between working.
Here’s a blank cheque! What are you going to spend it on for your business?
I’m currently considering the new Canon EOSR5 so possibly that.
If you could photograph someone famous, who would it be and why?
I honestly have no idea. I’d love the chance to photograph a high order multiple mum and her babies. As a mother of twins myself I have so much admiration for those mums.
