Whiteroom Studios, Wollongong NSW

How did you get started as a photographer?

I feel like I have been a photographer from the age of 11.  I studied it in 1997 and have always been in the industry until I opened my own studio 8 years ago. My dream.

What did life look like before photography?

I have always been a photographer.

Tell us about a day in the life of a professional photographer …

Wow. All days are different. It might be a retouching orders day or photographing a gorgeous little client, or making a beautiful dress or prop for an upcoming shoot.

Any memorable moments?

As I specialise in Princess sessions, I find the little girls always come into the studio very quiet and shy but by the end of the shoot they are striking a pose and telling their parents it “it was the best day of my life”. I have the best job ever.

If you could photograph 1 thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Princess sessions! I have couture dresses, tiaras and lots of magical backdrops to create a lovely image.

What is the best thing about your job?

I love seeing the reactions of the little clients. It makes it all worth it.

Tell us something we don’t know about professional photography …

As digital photography becomes more accessible I love to find ways to make my portraits a little different, something amazing that you can’t just do yourself. I see every child with rose coloured glasses and thats how I can draw out fantastic expressions and the best of them.

If you weren’t a photographer, what would you be doing?

Crying! Im lucky I don’t have to make that choice. I do love being a mum. Thats the best job in the world.

Here’s a blank cheque! What are you going to spend it on for your business?

Aahhh! Where do I start. New lighting and backgrounds and lots of Anna Triant couture dresses.

If you could photograph someone famous, who would it be and why?

Julia Roberts. Her amazing smile and warmth.
