WHEN HANGING OUT OF HELICOPTERS IS JUST ANOTHER DAY AT THE OFFICE
So it’s a pretty great gig when you get to meet the photographer behind some of your favourite landscape imagery. … and seriously handy when it turns out that we live in the same city and he is happy for us to tag along on some of his shoots.
If you’re not following Alex Spurway over on Instagram yet, you might want to join the 48,700 people who already are. Yep … this guy is still at university and takes some of the best landscape photos we’ve seen AND commands an audience of almost 50K Insta followers while he’s at it. Not bad for a guy from the north side of Brissy who started taking pics on his iPhone hey!
Oh and did we mention he’s the co-founder of OzShot magazine? Australia’s largest independent online and print mag which they say is designed to destroy monotony and feature the underrated creators of the industry! We’re thrilled to have Alex speaking for us at the Style Pose Click photography fair this weekend on the Gold Coast, June 2nd at the Southport Sharks Events Centre. Just $35 for a full day of photography awesomeness including a keynote by Alex. (grab your tix here)
We recently caught up with Alex one sunset down at Cabarita Headland in New South Wales to interview him about his ride as a landscape photographer so far. Take a peek at this candid Click Talk chat with Alex about how he got started, what he loves to photograph and check out his fave image of all time – which involved a pretty interesting helicopter ride all in the name of getting that money shot!
Alex doing his thing. Check out that water! Barely a ripple.
Sam’s a little concerned about where the drone has gone …. ?
Amazing sunset over Cabarita Headland!
We took way too long to interview Alex and had about 10 mins to catch the sunset. No problem if you’re a kickass landscape photographer though hey! This is what he posted on his Insta a few days later …
